I've been wanting to go to The Alvord Desert to visit the salt flats for quite sometime now, so we finally pulled the trigger and took a long Thanksgiving weekend road trip. From where we are in Southern Oregon, you have to dip down into Nevada and come back up to South Eastern Oregon. We had good weather and amazing sunsets. We stopped at The Alvord Hot Springs a couple times to warm up, and attempted to fish Mann Lake. All around it was a great trip and I can't wait to go back.

Apple Oat Cookies With Vanilla Drizzle
Saturday, September 30, 2017
Last week, one of my girlfriends gave me a bag full of these delicious organic apples she picked from her apple tree. I've been trying to think of a good recipe to kick off fall baking, so here it is! I added Manitoba Harvest hemp seeds to give it extra protein. Did you know hemp seeds have twice the amount of protein compared to flax or chia seeds? Also, feel free to substitute the egg for apple sauce, and leave out the meringue powder to make the recipe vegan. Hope you enjoy!
Ingredients
1 cup old-fashioned oats
1 cup wheat flour
1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
1 1/2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
1 tablespoon hemp seeds
1/8 teaspoon salt
2 tablespoons grape seed oil
1 large egg
1 teaspoon vanilla extract (homemade recipe here)
1/2 cup honey
1 finely diced red apple
1 cup powdered sugar
1/2 teaspoon meringue powder
1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 tablespoons water
Directions
1. Mix together oats, flour, baking powder, cinnamon, and salt. In a separate bowl whisk together grape seed oil, egg, vanilla, and honey. Add in the flour mixture slowly, stirring until just incorporated. Fold in the apple. Chill for 30 minutes.
2. Preheat oven to 325 degrees. Make balls of dough, about 2 tablespoons, and place onto a silicone baking mat. Bake for 13-15 minutes or until edges are golden brown. Cool cookies on a wire rack.
3. Mix together powdered sugar, meringue powder, and vanilla extract. Slowly add water until you reach desired consistency.

Fall Staples
Friday, September 1, 2017
I could not be more excited for cozy fall nights curled up with a glass of red wine. It's officially turning fall and I'm slowly incorporating more and more of my fall pieces back into my wardrobe. My Basic Baggu tote is perfect for fall and can be worn year round. I'm a sucker for high quality leather and a simple design. I tend to wear lighter pieces in the summer and go darker in the winter, but the fabric of this Tularosa dress is perfect for late summer and early fall. I fell in love with the subtle print, and It's on sale right now!
What's your go to fall staple?

Charcoal Skincare
Thursday, June 22, 2017
Everyone knows I'm a huge skincare junkie. So when my friends over at Boscia (pronounced BŌ-SHA) asked me to try out their Luminizing Black Mask, Black Hydration Gel, and new Jelly Ball Charcoal Cleanser, I was very excited. Charcoal has so many great benefits. It pulls out and absorbs more than 1,000 times its weight in toxins and impurities. Those toxins include bacteria, poisons, chemicals, dirt, and other micro-particles. This leaves the skin healthier, clearer, more refined, and stronger. The cleanser is so fun to use; I've never tried anything like it. It feels like you're giving yourself a facial. In fact, I actually can't wait to wash my face again! Then the hydration gel leaves your skin feeling so clean and soft. I'm sold.
